Jennifer Balmaseda
Koswerks' finance partner is responsible for the accounting, human resources and payroll consulting needs of small to medium-sized services businesses. Jennifer Balmaseda has more than 25 years of in all aspects of accounting, payroll and human resource functions at small, medium and large services companies.
Jennifer began at Koswerks after leaving MobiTV, Inc., a leading provider and platform for content delivery over mobile and broadband networks, where she held the position of Manager, Corporate Accounting. In this role, Jennifer managed the accounting team responsible for Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Audit and Tax Preparation. She revised month end close procedures resulting in a 20-day improvement as well as leading an implementation for a new financial system. more… less…
Jennifer joined MobiTV from Premier Retail Networks, Inc. (PRN), a leading operator of in-store digital video networks, where she held the role of Accounting Manager. She led the accounting team responsible for all accounting and revenue reporting activities for annual revenues of $147 million. Jennifer also mentored the team through process changes during PRN's acquisition by Thomson, Inc.
Prior to her work at PRN, Jennifer held the position of Director, Finance & Accounting at Yaga, Incorporated. Yaga, an Application Service Provider, provided its clients with end-to-end payments processing solution to manage, sell, merchandise and deliver digital content, services and physical goods. As Director, Finance & Accounting, she was responsible for the establishment and management for all aspects of Accounting, Human Resources, Payroll, Treasury and Stock Administration processes.
Before working at Yaga, Jennifer was the Senior Manager Finance at Intend Change, Inc. Intend Change was a venture incubator dedicated to providing an integrated suite of services to entrepreneurs to accelerate their ideas into sustainable businesses. As a founding member of Intend Change, Jennifer was instrumental in the establishment of key elements of the Intend Change corporate structure. She was responsible for the daily management of operational and financial business processes for Intend Change and all incubated Companies.
Prior to becoming a founder at Intend Change, Jennifer was at USWeb Corporation. USWeb was an Internet Professional Services firm offering end-to-end web development services including e-Business Strategy, Internet Application Development, User Experience Design and Marketing to Fortune 1000 companies. Jennifer held two positions at USWeb. As Accounting Manager, Jennifer was responsible for all accounting business processes from shortly after USWeb's establishment, through over 30 acquisitions, to its Initial Public Offering. Lastly as Senior, Financial Analyst, she was responsible for financial planning and analysis, budgets and treasury management.
Jennifer began her career as an accountant at Gulesserian Brothers Incorporated. Gulesserian Brothers, Inc. owned and operated eleven franchise retail locations in Central and Northern California. She worked her way up to Corporate Controller and Human Resource Manager while attending San Jose State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
